Welcome back Jan Lundgren - Munich & Stockholm, September 30th, 2014 (ACT)
Dear all,

Enclosed is a photo with Jan Lundgren & Siggi Loch
Press release

Welcome back Jan Lundgren
Munich & Stockholm, September 30th, 2014 (ACT)
ACT signs a new, long-term, exclusive contract with Jan Lundgren – Siggi Loch and Lundgren put pen to paper on September 26th in Stockholm.
Lundgren, who released four albums on ACT between 2005 and 2009, returns to the label on which he celebrated his biggest success – the album “Mare Nostrum” (with Paolo Fresu and Richard Galliano) that, with over 50.000 units sold, ranks among the most successful in ACT’s 22-year history.
Lundgren is part of a tradition of Swedish jazz pianists such as Jan Johansson, Bobo Stensson and Esbjörn Svensson whose style is influenced by traditional Swedish and European Classical music as well as American jazz. Aside from his work as a pianist and composer, Jan Lundgren is founder and artistic director of the “Ystad Sweden Jazz Festival”.
For his second ACT debut, Jan Lundgren will appear as a sideman on “Kind of Cool”, the next album by German drummer & bandleader Wolfgang Haffner, and his concert in the “Jazz at Berlin Philharmonic” series will then be released on December 10th, 2014. His next album as a leader is planned for 2015.

Victoires du Jazz for Vincent Peirani and Emile Parisien

MMunich, June 16 (ACT) Vincent Peirani and Emile Parisien have received the prestigious French jazz award „Victoires du Jazz“. Emile Parisien was elected „musician of the year“ and Vincent Peirani received the award as “rising star of the year”. The award ceremony took place on June 13th in Paris.

Since 2003 the “Victoires du Jazz” takes place as a branch of the music prize “Victoires de la Musique”. The jury consists of 25 music business professionals. Past awardees include Michel Petrucciani, Richard Galliano, Jacky Terrasson, Richard Bona, Madeleine Peyroux, Esbjörn Svensson, Norah Jones and Dee Dee Bridgewater.

The award is another highlight of two unparalleled success stories: Vincent Peirani and Emile Parisien have already received the French jazz award “Prix Django Reinhardt” (Parisien 2012, Peirani 2013). Moreover Vincent Peirani was elected “artist of the year” by the most important French jazz magazine “Jazzman / Jazz Magazine” and received the German “ECHO Jazz 2014” award.

Together Vincent Peirani and Emile Parisien appear on their current ACT album “Belle Époque”. On September 28th Emile Pasisien’s new album “Special Snack” will be released on ACT.

German Jazz Gold Award for Michael Wollny trio “Weltentraum”

Michael Wollny’s graduation from rising star to star

Munich, April 1, 2014 (ACT)

For his current album “Weltentraum” pianist Michael Wollny has just received his first “German Jazz Gold Award” for a recording under his own name by the Federal Association of the German Music Industry (“Bundesverband Musikindustrie”). ACT head Siggi Loch presented the award on March 31st at the final concert of the hugely successful and almost entirely sold out “Karsten Jahnke JazzNights” tour at the Frankfurt Opera House.

This award confirms that “Weltentraum” ranks among the most successful jazz albums of 2014 already, selling more units within two months than each of its seven predecessors did in their entirety. Especially in times of decreasing album sales, the German Jazz Award has become a rarity, in 2013 only eleven of the 3,500 jazz releases in Germany received this award. Moreover
“Weltentraum” has reached #1 of the German amazon and itunes jazz charts and made it up to #46 of the official German pop album charts.

“Weltentraum” also marks Michael Wollny’s international breakthrough, he made it on the cover of „Jazzwise“ - as the first German artist in the history of the magazine. The French “Jazzman / Jazz magazine” selected “Weltentraum” as album of the month and the album reached the upper ranks of the French jazz charts. All this is evidence that the release of Weltentraum marks „Michael Wollny’s graduation from rising star to star“ (Jazzwise, Stuart Nicholson).
